The following are answers to the most frequently asked questions relating to career opportunities and the hiring process at Burns & McDonnell.

Answers to questions about our college recruiting program.

Where do I submit my resume?

All resumes need to be submitted through our online career center. You may post your resume as a part of your profile. To create a profile, follow these steps:
  • Select "Create or Modify My Profile."
  • Click the "New User" button.
  • Review and accept privacy statement to advance to the "New User Registration" page.
  • Register by creating a user name and password.

After completing your registration, you will be taken through steps to create a general profile, which includes selecting your job preferences, uploading your resume and entering personal information.

Once I submit my resume will I be considered for positions at Burns & McDonnell?

In order to be considered for an opportunity, you must apply to a specific position listed in our career center and complete the online application.

May I apply for more than one job?

Yes, you may apply for as many positions that meet your qualifications as you'd like. The jobs you apply for will be displayed when you log in to ourcareer center, select "My Job Page" and "My Submissions" to view the status of the position and your application.

Why should I register with your career center?

Burns & McDonnell exclusively accepts applications via our online career center. In order to apply for a position, you must register and complete an application.

Should I mail a copy of my resume in addition to applying online?

Please do not mail a copy of your resume to Burns & McDonnell. The company exclusively accepts applications via our online career center

Do I need to have an e-mail address in order to register with your career center?

Yes, an e-mail address is required to register and apply for positions. You may conduct a search of our open positions, but you will not be able to apply for a position without registering with an active e-mail address.

What if I forget my password?

If you have forgotten your password, please click the "Forgot your password?" link on the login page. Your new password will be sent to the e-mail address you used when registering with our career center.

What if I forget my user name?

If you have forgotten your user name, please click the "Forgot Your User Name?" link on the login page. Your user name will be sent to the e-mail address you used when registering with our career center. 

How do I find job opportunities at Burns & McDonnell?

Burns & McDonnell job opportunities are posted on our career center. You may search jobs from the career center home page by entering search criteria in the "Job Search" section. You do not need to be registered with our career center in order to search the job opportunities. However, if you would like to apply for a job you will need to register and complete the online application.

How often are job opportunities posted?

Burns & McDonnell posts new job opportunities daily as they become available. Once you have registered with our career center, you can request notifications of new job postings. Follow these steps to receive notification:

  • Select "My Account Options."
  • Under "Correspondence," select the "Edit" link.
  • Select the checkbox next to the statement: "Send me an e-mail notification whenever a new position matching my profile is posted (job posting notification)."
  • Click the "Save" button.

Who will review my application?

All applications submitted via the career center are reviewed by a member of our recruiting team. When you apply to a position, the recruiter assigned to that position will review your qualifications and contact you if you have been selected for an interview.

How do I know if my application was received?

After registering with our career center, you may request an e-mail acknowledgement be sent after you apply for a job. Follow these steps to receive notification:

  • Select "My Account Options."
  • Under "Correspondence," select the "Edit" link.
  • Select the checkbox next to the statement: "Send me an e-mail acknowledgment when you receive my job submission."
  • Click the "Save" button.

When you apply for a specific position, it will appear in "My Submissions" under the "My Job Page." You may track the status of the position and your application from this list.

Should I follow up on my application?

You may view the status of your application via your career center account. When you log in, a list of your applications and the status will be displayed under "My Submissions" on the "My Job Page."

How much travel is required?

The amount of travel required is dependent upon each individual position. You may search for jobs based on the amount of travel required by using the Job Search function.

Do you offer part-time employment?

Burns & McDonnell offers part-time employment for certain positions within the company. You may search for part-time jobs by selecting "Part-time" under the Job Search. Please note that internships and temporary positions will be returned when using these search criteria.

I was referred by a Burns & McDonnell employee. How do they receive credit for my application?

When you apply for a specific position, you will complete an online application for that job. After the question, "How did you hear about this job?" select "Employee Referral" and indicate if the individual is a friend, relative or retiree. Burns & McDonnell employees also are able to submit referrals through our internal job postings.

How do I update my information?

To update the information on your profile, log in to our career center and from your home page, select "My Account Options." You may update all your personal information on this page.

May I e-mail you my resume instead?

If you see a position you believe you are qualified for, please register with our career center and apply online. Burns & McDonnell exclusively accepts applications via our career center.

Is the Burns & McDonnell Career Center a secure site?

Burns & McDonnell is committed to providing the most secure Internet service through the use of security and encryption technology. When you interact with this secure site, all the information is either encrypted or encoded.
