Burns & McDonnell's core team of professionals have large-scale project controls, new construction and nuclear experience. Our seasoned team uses an integrated project controls plan and associated project instructions to support the project goals established by TVA. The tools used to manage the project controls include NoTouch ReportingTM, a proprietary quality assurance/quality control automated report delivery tool that distributes reports and highlights action items to project team members, among other functions. Other Burns & McDonnell custom databases have been deployed for the benefit of the overall project team.

Our team's experience results from decades of project controls integration. We are deploying a unique combination of people, processes and technology to address the specific needs of this large, complex project and to provide a complete project controls and information management solution. Our patented software and team of technical support staff have advanced the use of Primavera P6 and Contract Manager to push the envelope of time, contract and information management within the energy sector.

Burns & McDonnell information management specialists, project controls specialists and technicians are using our integrated suite of project controls software, processes and tools to develop, implement and maintain a project cost, schedule and risk management program that interfaces with TVA's existing corporate reporting and financial control systems. This multimillion-dollar, seven-year contract extends through to project completion, which is expected in the 2018-2020 time frame.

Burns & McDonnell has developed add-ons to overcome software shortcomings, as well as customized software in-house to interface with our preferred external software and systems. TVA recently approved funding to begin engineering, design and site preparation for the Unit 1 reactor at the Bellefonte facility. Construction at Bellefonte began in 1974 but was suspended in 1988.

In 2009, TVA requested the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission reinstate the construction permits, which had been in deferred status. The Bellefonte Nuclear Plant site consists of two Babcock & Wilcox Model 205 Pressurized Water Reactors. These units are expected to deliver 1260 MWe each once completed.
