Terminal Threat Blast Analysis

Burns & McDonnell conducted a blast analysis of the terminal building at Des Moines International Airport in Des Moines, Iowa, in accordance with the Transportaton Security Administration's Standard Operating Procedures for Bomb Incident Prevention. Design scenarios involved large vehicle improvised explosive devices of various sizes at a number of locations, including the roadways immediately in front of the terminal, a nearby loading dock, and several adjacent parking areas.
The goal was to determine the effects on the building under current conditions, as well as to identify and assess the benefits of available mitigation options. Due to the sensitive nature of the project, results of the analysis are confidential. Disclosure of this information could compromise the security of the facility.
