Voluntary Reporting of Greenhouse Gases

Client: Westar (formerly Western Resources)

Burns & McDonnell completed a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and documented GHG reduction projects in accordance with the Energy Policy Act of 1992. The reductions were calculated and submitted on Form EIA-1605. A total of approximately 50 GHG reduction projects were documented including:

  • Transformer replacements
  • Cooling tower upgrade
  • Turbine upgrade
  • Boiler controls upgrade
  • Aluminum rail cars
  • Carbon sequestration project

The projects accounted for an estimated emissions reductions of 1 million metric tons.
