BREA, California — Burns & McDonnell hosted its fifth annual Community of Inclusion Awards on Aug. 31, recognizing diverse suppliers for outstanding project performance, client service and dedication to empowering the community.

“As part of our mission to make our clients successful, we continue to look for partnerships with small, diverse businesses that embody innovative thinking, industry experience and exceptional customer service,” says Renita Mollman, vice president and general manager of Burns & McDonnell’s California offices. “We’re proud to recognize Morrow-Meadows Corporation and West Power Energy, both woman-owned businesses, for their exceptional dedication to our clients and community.”

The 2018 California Community of Inclusion honorees:

Morrow-Meadows Corporation, an electrical and data communications contractor and engineering firm, worked with Burns & McDonnell on a project at the Port of Los Angeles for the Pasha Stevedoring & Terminals Green Omni Terminal, providing updated electrical infrastructure and a microgrid system for operating electrical, heavy-duty equipment during potential power outages.  

West Power Energy, a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with a specialization in power, partnered with Burns & McDonnell, Southern California Edison, and other California investor-owned utilities to provide a wide array of engineering services.

Throughout the last two years, Burns & McDonnell has spent $620 million with small, diverse suppliers across the U.S., which accounts for more than 20 percent of the firm’s total purchase order expenditures. The firm was recently recognized for its commitment to diversity with the Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award by WTS-San Diego, and the Corporate Trendsetter Award by the Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council.

The firm’s more than 200 employees working in offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Brea, California, have successfully managed nearly $15 billion in projects. To accommodate continued growth, the firm plans to double in size in California within the next three years.
