BIRMINGHAM, England — Engineering-construction company Burns & McDonnell has hired four new team members for its Birmingham office, including two senior electrical engineers, further strengthening its presence in the U.K.
Prash Desai is a senior electrical engineer, leading the company’s substations and protections team. He has joined Burns & McDonnell’s team of engineering and construction specialists, who deliver the overhead transmission, substation and underground transmission infrastructure that delivers power to homes and businesses in the West Midlands and across the UK. A specialist in power system protection, Prash joins Burns & McDonnell with 10 years’ experience across the private sector and regulated utilities.
Craig McGlone has joined as a senior electrical engineer, and is leading Burns & McDonnell’s Distribution Modernisation work, helping to build the ‘smart grid’ needed for the UK’s transition to net-zero. Craig brings extensive industry experience to Burns & McDonnell, with specialisms in earthing systems analysis and design, grid connection compliance studies and network planning and design.
Nicola Hawthorn and Rory Ward have also joined the Birmingham team in business development and engineering roles respectively. This is the latest milestone of continuous growth for Burns & McDonnell UK, which has doubled the size of its team in the past 12 months. It has a ten-year investment plan for Birmingham and the UK.
Prash Desai, Senior Electrical Engineer, said:
“This is a really exciting time to be working in the energy sector, and I’m happy to be joining Burns & McDonnell at such a pivotal time. As the country works on the vital power grid modernisation required to ensure we achieve the goal of net zero by 2050, the expertise Burns & McDonnell has in energy infrastructure will have a significant role to play. I’m excited to combine my own experience in these areas with Burns & McDonnell’s global team as we devise and implement creative solutions for our clients’ challenges.”
