WALLINGFORD, Connecticut (Nov. 15, 2016) — After acquiring a dozen major new projects in the Northeast U.S. within the past three years, Burns & McDonnell is expanding operations in six states — Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. The 100 percent employee-owned global engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting firm first opened its doors in the Northeast in 2007 and has since grown 700 percent in the region.

“With the complex infrastructure challenges our clients and communities face, there is a great need for quick, comprehensive engineering, architecture and construction solutions,” says Brett Williams, president and general manager of the New England office. “We’re focused on immersing ourselves within our communities and expanding our team so we can bring even more sustainable solutions to the table.”

Backed by an international team of more than 5,300, the Northeastern offices work together to design and build the infrastructure that powers the region — with a focus on electric and gas utilities — military installations, commercial, aviation and industrial facilities. The office has successfully managed approximately $12 billion in projects with investor-owned utility and commercial aviation clients. Known as a center for excellence in program management, the Burns & McDonnell New England project approach is all about alleviating complex issues for clients.

“From concept to completion, we work with clients as one team and they reap the benefits of a quick, more seamless experience,” says Paul Fischer, president and regional office group manager. “Our employee-owners supporting the Northeast have diverse skillsets and experience, paired with an unparalleled commitment to clients that make projects like the Interstate Reliability Project — Engineering News-Record New England’s 2016 Best Energy/Industrial Project — a success.”

Burns & McDonnell was also recognized by Engineering News-Record as the No. 1 firm in electrical power and transmission and distribution

As the firm grows, Williams says the dedication to being a Best Place to Work remains constant. Burns & McDonnell currently ranks No. 16 among Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For and has been recognized by nearly 30 publications as a best place to work across the country, including the Hartford Connecticut Business Journal for seven consecutive years.

“As a service company our best product is our team of employee-owners,” says Williams. “We recognize that making our clients successful begins with hiring and retaining the best-of-the-best in the industry. From top-notch facilities to employee ownership to comprehensive wellness and benefits programs to professional development opportunities and more, we strive to offer benefits that will enrich our employee-owners lives, both personally and professionally.”
