CHICAGO, Illinois (Oct. 13, 2016) — Burns & McDonnell has moved up to No. 3 on the 2016 MEP Commissioning Giants survey by Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE) magazine. Burns & McDonnell reported commissioning revenue of $21.5 million for the survey period of 2015.
The rapid growth is due to a commitment by Burns & McDonnell to expand its commissioning practice group on a national scale. Burns & McDonnell specializes in delivering a wide range of commissioning, retro-commissioning and monitoring-based commissioning services to complex, critical facilities throughout the country. Burns & McDonnell has provided commissioning services for a range of new construction projects in the past five years. In addition, the firm has provided retro-commissioning and related services for more than 23 million square feet of existing building space during the same time period. The group has more than 100 commissioning professionals available, including 34 Certified Cx Authorities located in strategic regions around the country, enabling the firm to provide national expertise on a local basis.
“We’ve seen significant growth because facility owners and developers are increasingly finding that commissioning is a prudent step to ensure that equipment, materials and systems are installed properly and operating as efficiently as designed,” said Brian Lindstrom, director of national commissioning services for Burns & McDonnell. “Commissioning professionals are increasingly engaged early in the project design and construction cycles as a strategy to better manage project budgets and reduce project risk.”
Burns & McDonnell also ranked 3rd on the 2016 MEP Giants survey of top firms providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. Burns & McDonnell reported total MEP revenue of $215.6 million from projects managed by a number of divisions providing a range of MEP engineering services.
