How We’re Responding to the Coronavirus
03/27/2020 2 minute read

A Steady Hand in the Time of Coronavirus

In a time of international crisis, critical infrastructure across the United States and around the world is being tested as never before. So are traditional approaches. Amid unprecedented challenges, Burns & McDonnell is maintaining its commitment to making clients successful through robust, highly adaptive support services.

Designed to build. Built to endure.

Manufacturers, governmental bodies at all levels, utilities and more work to design, build, operate and maintain the systems and facilities that keep us all safe, strong and connected. We are proud to partner with many of them to help achieve their objectives. As the coronavirus pandemic is changing the way people live and work in the near term, there is a powerful need to maintain the systems and vital infrastructure — from highways and manufacturing to reliable power and clean water — that will get us all through this disruption, keep the world moving and empower us all going forward.

Our dedicated employees, whether from home or the field, are working hard to continue supporting our clients in their essential labors. Here is a glimpse of how we are safeguarding our people and our communities while maintaining the robust support services for which we are known.

Safe and Secure

Safety is always the top priority at Burns & McDonnell. Our executive leadership and crisis response team stay on top of ever-evolving guidance and providing clear instructions to our workforce.

While a majority of our workforce has been instructed to work from home, utilizing technology tools that reliably protect and deliver the necessary data, we also have a strong core of construction professionals, many of whom remain on job sites to complete projects that our clients are depending on.

Our personnel in the field continue to take care with all safety and health practices and use of proper personal protective equipment. This care is now enhanced with even closer attention paid to social distancing and cleanliness procedures. We acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifice these colleagues are making by remaining on-site. Their dedication to successfully completing projects because our clients are depending on them is an inspiration.

For Our Clients, Colleagues and Communities

As part of a 100% employee-owned firm, each of us takes an ownership interest in the success and well-being of our colleagues. Wherever possible, our employees have been asked to work from home and take protective measures in alignment with governmental guidance. They are empowered to make the smart decisions that form the backbone of our nimble, continuous service.

We know we are all in this together. We remain available and fully committed to providing the experience-based insights that deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective solutions for our clients and the communities in which we live and work. We will be a steady hand in tenuous times, and together we will create amazing.
