MUMBAI, India — Burns & McDonnell India, a part of the U.S.-based architecture, engineering, procurement and construction firm Burns & McDonnell, is proud to announce the promotion of Joe Diab to chief operating officer.

In his new capacity, Diab will manage day-to-day operations and new business opportunities.

A significant part of this involves managing design-driven engineering, one of the firm’s services that is integral to its engineer-procure-construct (EPC) execution. This newly created role represents a significant milestone in the Burns & McDonnell India journey, reflecting the company’s commitment to bolstering its services and enhancing strategic collaboration across business lines and with company partners.

Burns & McDonnell India, founded in Mumbai in 2013, is a full-service engineering company with diverse knowledge and experience spanning sectors such as oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical, transmission and distribution, energy, environmental services and food and consumer products. Over the past 11 years, Burns & McDonnell India has grown to a team of more than 1,900 professionals, with thriving offices in Mumbai and, beginning last year, Bengaluru.

Diab has worked for 37 years within the industrial, process, petrochemical and refining industries on projects involving design development, project and construction management, procurement and the coordination of large multidisciplinary teams who deliver world-class EPC projects.

“Joe’s consistent track record of success makes him an ideal fit to lead our India operation,” says Chad Hotovec, CEO of Burns & McDonnell India. “By harnessing the collective strength of

our India team, we look forward to him guiding the company beyond where we are today. His dedication to nurturing a culture of excellence aligns perfectly with our values, and his leadership will further enhance the collaborative spirit central to our success.”

Since joining Burns & McDonnell in 2001 as a project manager, Diab has played a critical role in the growth and success of the company’s Oil, Gas & Chemical Group, managing some of the largest, most successful EPC projects in the company’s history — driving progress, innovation and high-performing teams.

“Our India operation is experiencing strong, healthy growth, demonstrated by our recent expansion into another city, our diversification of services and our ability to continue securing industry-coveted work,” Diab says. “All of this has positioned us for an outstanding future that should be driven by someone familiar with all we have to offer globally. Having someone hands-on in India focused on new business is the optimal way to build upon our past growth, which has included a sixfold expansion in the last six years. I am honored to lead that charge.”

“As we continue to expand in line with our robust plans, our projects continue to get larger and more complex across our many business lines, driving the need to focus on high-quality delivery via best practices across the organization,” says Parul Gopal, CAO of Burns & McDonnell India. “With growth comes exciting opportunities, and I look forward to seeing Joe and our India team rise to meet every challenge and opportunity that comes their way.”
