KANSAS CITY, Missouri (July 27, 2017) — As Burns & McDonnell enters the final turn in its drive to submit a comprehensive proposal for a new single-terminal Kansas City International Airport, members of the KCI HOMETOWN Team took a break from normal business routine today to stage a rally and information sharing event at KC Live! in the Kansas City Power & Light District. The event was held just before the team delivered 25 copies of its qualifications documents to City Hall in Kansas City, Missouri.

The rally featured an inspirational video from Kansas City Royals legend George Brett, who is endorsing the KCI HOMETOWN Team and its plan to design, build and privately finance a single-terminal KCI. Brett joins a large and growing list of individuals and organizations who are endorsing the HOMETOWN Team in its drive for a new airport built with KC Talent and a KC workforce, all reflecting a gigantic share of KC pride.

“If we are fortunate enough to be selected for this project, we guarantee it will be built with passion and pride,” says Ray Kowalik, Burns & McDonnell chairman and CEO. “No one cares more about Kansas City than the KCI HOMETOWN Team. No one will sweat the details and be more committed to putting Kansas Citians to work like we will. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to show what Kansas Citians can do and we can’t wait to get started on a project we will be proud to share with our kids and grandkids in the years to come.”

During the rally, the team unveiled the all-new KCI Inspiration Station, a traveling display designed to solicit ideas and suggestions from the public on the key features, amenities and other details they want to see in their new hometown airport.

The KC Marching Cobras got things off to a rockin’ start as Master of Ceremonies Bob Fescoe of 610 Sports Radio hosted a crowded stage of speakers who addressed several hundred employees of the more than 30 firms who have signed on with the KCI HOMETOWN Team. Key speakers who addressed the crowd included: Bob Berkebile, designer emeritus for the project, Bill Dietrich, president and CEO of the Downtown Council of Kansas City; Pat “Duke” Dujakovich, president of the Greater Kansas City AFL-CIO; Rosie Privitera-Biondo, CEO of Mark One Electric; and Mary McNamara, national board member of Women Construction Owners & Executives.

In addition to Burns & McDonnell, the growing KCI HOMETOWN team includes: Americo; JE Dunn; McCownGordon; HOK; Populous; BNIM; Wellner Architects; Garcia Architecture; Mark One Electric Company, Inc.; MMC Contractors; U.S. Engineering; Capital Electric Construction Company, Inc.;
