Under Lichtwardt’s leadership, the Denver office has quadrupled in size to more than 200 employee-owners and expanded capabilities in many fields including electrical generation and transmission, water treatment and distribution, manufacturing and commercial facilities, construction, and environmental consulting.

“During Mark’s tenure as the general manager of the Denver regional office, he has transformed the office into a force to be reckoned with in one of the most competitive regional markets,” says Greg Graves, CEO of Burns & McDonnell. “His success spans many of our global practices, making his office one of the most diverse in all of Burns & Mac.”

Lichtwardt earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering in 1991 and 1994 from the University of Colorado at Denver.

He began his career in the renewable energy field. He developed and patented two technologies, including a highly efficient solar powered water treatment process. Lichtwardt joined Burns & McDonnell in 2002 as a senior mechanical engineer working in water supply, and later became manager of water treatment. He played a key role in expanding the firm’s capabilities in the area of advanced water treatment technologies.
