LONDON, England — Rick Mena will serve as the managing director of global markets for 1898 & Co., part of Burns & McDonnell, as he leads 1898 & Co.’s expansion into new markets within Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mena will be moving from the Burns & McDonnell office in Houston, Texas, to join the 1898 & Co. team in the London office.

“It’s a true honor to be leading this initiative and showcasing our consulting service offerings globally,” says Mena, who joined Burns & McDonnell in 2019 and boasts 16 years of experience in energy transition consulting. “1898 & Co. is uniquely positioned in the market because of our ability to leverage the knowledge of Burns & McDonnell and translate that to a consulting frame in a way that’s actionable and meaningful for any single engagement.”

Mena will lead the vision and growth strategy of a variety of service offerings — including energy utility consulting, technology consulting, cybersecurity and risk consulting — to these markets. His first order is to advance the success of renewable generation and emerging energy advisory offerings. Any new services or markets developed in the U.S. will be expanded internationally under Mena’s leadership as well, leveraging the success already underway in Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries, Africa, and Europe.

In 2022 Mena helped kick-start the 1898 & Co. presence in the U.K., within the London office of Burns & McDonnell. Now, Mena will be responsible for leading the 1898 & Co. team not only in the U.K. but also anywhere else it expands outside of the U.S.
