KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Burns & McDonnell has selected Shelly Brown as the new managing director of IT for the 100% employee-owned firm.

In her nearly eight years with Burns & McDonnell, Brown has led or supported many of the firm’s advancing business critical platforms to better serve clients, including launching a new intranet, modernizing conference room meeting experiences, advancing the adoption of Microsoft Teams and Phones, and other large enterprise IT change management initiatives.

“Shelly has a reputation for connecting with our clients to understand their business and develop innovative solutions to achieve their business objectives and operational outcomes,” says John Olander, COO and president of the Transmission & Distribution Group, Burns & McDonnell. “She is resourceful and skilled at navigating technology challenges while establishing a vision to drive organizational progress. She is a natural fit for this new role.”

Brown succeeds Rich Miller, who is retiring in April. Miller served as vice president of IT for the past eight years after a more than 30-year career in both software application development and information technology leadership roles. At Burns & McDonnell, Miller focused on delivering outstanding customer support services, improving the company’s cybersecurity program, embracing emerging cloud services, and developing future information technology leaders.
