AUSTIN, Texas — Burns & McDonnell, a global engineering, architecture and construction firm, has expanded and reorganized its regional Environmental Services Group in Texas to better meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions across the state.
The team offers comprehensive permitting, compliance and remediation services with decades of experience across diverse sectors, including power generation, oil and gas, chemicals, electrical infrastructure, renewable resources, transportation and manufacturing.
“Our clients are navigating an evolving regulatory landscape, and the need for tailored environmental solutions is more critical than ever,” says Jake Merriman, regional manager of the Environmental Services Group and general manager for the Austin office at Burns & McDonnell. “To address this, we’ve strengthened our leadership in key areas — air quality, natural and cultural resources, and regulatory compliance — to provide specialized support and enhance the success of our projects.”
To reinforce the firm’s commitment to environmental excellence, Burns & McDonnell has announced several key promotions:
- Sara Tomashitis has been named department manager for environmental and regulatory compliance (ERC). With 18 years of experience, including leadership on major projects like the Golden Triangle Polymers Project near Orange, Texas, and large-scale solar initiatives, Tomashitis will oversee ERC staff across Texas, guiding the team toward strategic growth in the state’s environmental sector. She will also collaborate on managing compliance projects and developing new business.
- Lane Martinez is now the department manager for natural and cultural resources. Previously serving as section manager for natural resources in Houston, Martinez has been instrumental in daily operations, staff management and business development, making him well suited to lead the natural and cultural resources efforts. Martinez has over 17 years of experience managing projects across multiple market sectors including oil and gas, electrical infrastructure, and renewable resources.
- Alicia Beasley takes on the role of department manager for air quality and noise. With over 20 years of consulting experience, Beasley is known for her problem-solving capabilities and strong client relationships. She will manage air quality team members across Texas and manage air quality projects, focusing on compliance with air regulations and delivering high-quality results for clients.
