CHICAGO (August 30, 2017) — From industrial mechanical contractor to family business owner to global operations executive to operations manager, Troy Kemp has supported the food and consumer products industry through many vantage points and roles. His latest: employee-owner and project manager at Burns & McDonnell in Chicago, Illinois.
“We are excited to announce that Troy Kemp, an industry renowned leader, has joined the Burns & McDonnell team,” says Chris Freeman, Burns & McDonnell regional Food & Consumer Products Group manager. “Troy has worked for and alongside companies worldwide to support their production, facilities and process needs. His diverse experience, strong technical knowledge and leadership skills are major assets as we continue developing and delivering innovative business solutions for our clients.”
Kemp brings more than three decades of experience in managing multimillion dollar capital projects; establishing and developing international business; engineering, manufacturing and construction operations; business development; project management; and product development to Burns & McDonnell. In his new role as project manager, he will focus on growing the firm’s Food & Consumer Products business and leading projects.
“I’ve been very fortunate throughout my career to support a tremendous variety of projects at a wide range of facilities,” says Kemp. “I love the challenge of finding a solution — putting together the pieces and connecting the dots — and having a client say, ‘Wow that’s exactly what we needed.’ That’s the best feeling we get in our industry. I’m looking forward to problem solving for our clients in my new role.”
Kemp knows first-hand the challenges companies face within the food and consumer products industry. He’s supported more than 30 food, beverage, ingredient and consumer products clients throughout his career including Pepsi-Cola, Dean Foods and Coca-Cola.
“Within this industry, speed to market is critical and can make or break the profit line,” says Kemp. “Even more challenging — many companies face quick-turn projects with limited in-house engineering resources. With schedule, productivity and innovation in mind, we partner with clients to come up with unique solutions for their unique needs.”
