PROJECT

Corporate Headquarters Campus

Creative Planning, a wealth management company, purchased a preliminarily developed office campus and worked with our design-build team to transform the campus into a corporate headquarters with custom features — all on a previously established delivery schedule.

The vision of our team and the project developer VanTrust Real Estate had evolved from two 10-story office towers for high-end tenants to three low-rise, multitenant office buildings in two phases, meeting the prevailing office market. With the introduction of Creative Planning — who tasked our team with the program, design and build-out of its tenant space — came new opportunities to enhance one-on-one client interactions, improve workflows and department collaboration, and provide a signature work environment focused on retention and recruiting.

Expedited work had begun once the approach received unanimous approval from the City of Overland Park Planning Commission. First up was site earthwork, footing and foundation packages, plus accelerated construction with two subcontractor teams.

“The campus has turned out to be a special place that strikes a perfect tone for our clients and employees. The Burns & McDonnell design-build team captured our vision and delivered.”

Peter Mallouk

President, Creative Planning

Our design-build team worked collaboratively with VanTrust, Creative Planning, the City of Overland Park and contracting teams to incorporate amenities including a 6,000-square-foot café, a 2,000-square-foot Starbucks coffee bar, indoor and outdoor dining areas, an exterior event space and deck, and a bocce court.

Our integrated design and construction team worked collaboratively with Creative Planning leadership from early concept through move-in to create a work environment that expresses the company’s culture and positions it for success.
