Safety, compliance and technical complexity are daily challenges at oil, gas and chemical facilities. Electrical system studies and design services help you gather critical operational data and optimize your operations.
Our team has comprehensive, end-to-end understanding of the equipment and systems in well fields, pipelines, midstream and storage facilities, refineries, and chemical plants. Our experience includes electrical system design, construction support, arc-flash incident reduction, and maximized safety controls, helping eliminate hazards upfront in an inherently hazardous industry. We tap electrical system professionals in offices worldwide to address:
- Electrical system design, including power system design, grounding and underground distribution design, cable tray and above-ground distribution design, and hazardous area classification analysis and design.
- Electrical power system studies, including reliability, load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination and settings, arc flash, and motor starting studies.
- Instrumentation and control system design, including programmable logic control (PLC) system and distributed control systems (DCS) design, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) verification, and control system upgrades, replacements and retrofits.
- Equipment specifications, including technical bid evaluations, procurement support, vendor coordination, compliance review and factory acceptance.
- Construction support, including field engineering, RFI responses, and owner’s engineering services.
Existing Asset Evaluation and Upgrades
When outdated equipment and controls systems are blocking efficiencies in your operation — whether due to unavailable parts, reliability issues or safety concerns — we work with you to evaluate equipment needs and find the technical, operational and construction solutions that keep your facilities functioning optimally. We have experience with medium- and low-voltage electrical equipment replacement, protective relay upgrades, instrument replacement, and PLC and DCS upgrades.
From site investigations and record-drawing evaluations to equipment procurement, installation drawings and construction support, we are your trusted partner. Because our team is familiar with all the various compliance requirements, you can be confident your project will be technically sound and safe for you, your employees and the public.
Arc-Flash Assessment and Mitigation Program Management
Our team manages arc-flash programs to keep sites in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. With tracking systems designed and tailored to specific clients and assets, we coordinate with clients, manage team operations, gather field data, and create and/or update electrical system models and reports when renewals are required or when system updates have been made. If incident energy is deemed higher than desired, we can determine and develop mitigation plans for implementation.
