What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I earned my private pilot's license 25 years ago but stopped flying when my kids were little, and career got busy. I recently completed my recurrent training and requalified and now fly almost every weekend when the weather permits.
What inspired you to pursue your career?
As the first in my family to go to a university, I dreamed of becoming of mechanical engineer, but I struggled mightily with differential equations. I considered giving up college altogether until I had a random meeting with an architecture student who lived on the same dorm floor. He saw I was emotionally struggling and offered to help. I guess it was his genuine concern for a total stranger that moved me to want to be like him. One thing led to another, and I transferred to architecture and found my passion. Rather ironic that I would find my greatest joy in working at an engineering firm.
What’s the coolest part of your job?
It’s clearly all about the people. I get to work with so many amazing folks. They are not only talented, but wonderful to be around. I’ve seen interns become managers, client reps and industry leaders. It is so incredibly fulfilling to be a part of their success. I am truly blessed!
