Rich Mahaley is the dynamic, supportive leader at the helm of our Florida operations. He builds effective and inclusive teams that provide high-quality of service while creating outstanding career and development opportunities for each team member.
Rich is a big fan of saying “yes” and finding fun in every challenge thrown his way. He has spent the entirety of his career here, serving in a wide range of roles from electrical engineer to department manager. In 2013, he said “yes” to leading Burns & McDonnell India as its first CEO and director. He directed and mentored dynamic teams, infusing the employee ownership spirit into the office and creating a collaborative workplace that was honored as one of India’s Great Places to Work. In 2018, he returned to the U.S. to lead our operations in Florida, expanding and deepening our presence in the Southeast.

What inspired you to pursue your career?
My father is an amazing mechanical engineer and construction manager who built big and cool power plants. He is my lifetime mentor and hero.
What’s the coolest part of your job?
Mentoring amazingly talented people to build awesome teams to provide the solutions that solve the world's biggest challenges and create incredible careers.
What excites you most when you look at the future of infrastructure, the industries we support and our company?
We are changing everything about how our infrastructure works and functions. Everything from power generation and modes of transportation to how we shop and how we build is dramatically changing. When our founders started this company, it was the Industrial Revolution; today we are in the technology revolution, and once again our clients have many tough problems to solve. Clients are forecasting 20, 30, even 50 years of work to reach their visions. And just as we have proven over the last 125 years, we are the perfect company and place to work to provide those solutions.
